Losing My Job with OVW… Again - By Derek Sharp

There’s no easy way to say this: I’ve once again parted ways with Ohio Valley Wrestling.

This time feels different. Not because it hurts less—it doesn’t—but because I’ve grown so much through the highs and lows that this ride has given me. I’ve poured years of passion, long nights, and creative energy into making OVW look like a million bucks. Every graphic, every poster, every social post—my fingerprints were on it. I helped OVW visually reintroduce itself to a whole new audience, from local fans to Netflix subscribers.

So yeah, it stings.

But what stings more isn’t losing a job. It’s losing something that felt like family. Something I was proud of. Something I built my days and nights around. I wasn’t a freelancer clocking in and out—I was the head of graphics, and this was my shoot job. My only job. This was my livelihood, not a side hustle. And I treated it with that level of dedication.

There’s a saying: “You don’t miss the job—you miss the people.” That’s true here. I want to wish nothing but the best to Rob, Ben, and the new team managing OVW. I genuinely hope they succeed in their vision and keep building something special for the wrestling scene and for the fans.

As for me? I know what I bring to the table. I'm unmatched in speed, creativity, and dedication. I work faster than most, and I show up—every time. I live in the right time zone (and the right mindset). And I’m one of the few in this business for whom design is the main hustle, not the backup plan.

This isn’t the end of my story. It’s just another plot twist.
